There are three separate but related meanings when people talk about “black lives matter”. I’m not sure everyone realizes this, so hopefully I’m adding to someone’s understanding and clarity.

  1. Black lives. People who are black should not be murdered. This is so obvious! Everyone agrees with this of course, except maybe 27 people. However, if you are not black and you hear someone saying this, it can sound exclusionary and insulting to you. So your natural reaction is to be defensive and logical and say something like “And everyone else’s life matters too”. This brings me to my second point.
  2. Black people need special attention right now. Because the Left media and politicians have brainwashed the masses to believe that black people are being extraordinarily persecuted in the last few years, then it would make sense that when they say Black Lives Matter, what they are really saying is – “we need extra love and protection right now”, whether it is in fact true or NOT. So when you add the “and everyone else’s lives matter too”, in their minds THAT reinforces their perception that their black lives are being marginalized. Although I disagree with the premise behind all of this (that black people in general are being persecuted by white people in general more in recent years), it would be nice to give black people extra attention and love and support. However, the better solution is to eliminate the causes that created the situation in the first place – the perception of persecution.
  3. The BLM organization. This is an organization that has a lot of problems, potential corruption against the very people they claim to want to help, and has an agenda that is suspiciously socialist and possibly communistic and needs to be investigated more thoroughly. However, they can shield themselves to some degree because they are already claiming unfair treatment, and that there are lies being told about them, so any attempt at investigating them or holding them accountable will be met with loud claims of persecution.

Here is some quotes from the BLM website that sound just a little bit nuts:

[BLM’s] mission is to eradicate white supremacy and build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes.

Eradicate white supremacy? I think they mean more than the extremely small number of actual KKK white supremacist’s. What does “eradicate” mean? Do they want to kill white supremacists? Last I heard, even the KKK are humans, and cannot be murdered based on their free speech and beliefs. If more than just the KKK, then who else are they targeting with this “eradication”?

We are working for a world where Black lives are no longer systematically targeted for demise.

This sounds very paranoid, but if they could provide proof of this actually happening, of course we’d all get behind them to support this.
